Our Services
Our Services
I (Dr Claire Nussey, Clinical Psychologist) offer a range of services. Appointments are available in person in New Lambton (Newcastle, NSW) or via telehealth, Australia-wide. Appointments typically last 50 minutes and are offered weekly, fortnightly or monthly.
For all of the services below, I offer a 15 minute complimentary, obligation-free enquiry call to discuss your needs and determine if I am likely to be a good fit for you. Prior to your first appointment, I will also send you a brief background form to help identify what your concerns are and what you are hoping to achieve in therapy. We will then discuss this further when we first meet, and develop a plan from there.
How to access:
Private Clients
No referral is needed, just contact us via phone or email to book your first appointment.
Medicare
If you are eligible, your GP may undertake a Mental Health Care Plan and refer you for psychological therapy. You can either bring this to your first appointment or ask your GP to email it through directly beforehand.
Under this program, you can receive rebates from Medicare for up to 10 psychology sessions per calendar year. As your psychologist, I am required to write a progress/update letter to your GP at the end of each course of treatment (usually 4-6 sessions) and your GP may provide a further referral under this plan. I will also write to your GP at the end of treatment, or to close your file if we unexpectedly have no contact with you for more than 6 weeks.
Private Health Insurance
Any eligible rebate from your Health Fund will be subject to your personal cover and fund entitlements, which are your responsibility to check.
Workers Compensation & CTP
If you have an accepted claim number and prior approval from your insurer, your fees will be covered by your insurer. Your insurer or your GP can refer you. I am required to write a progress report to your insurer after the first appointment and at the end of each approved number of sessions (typically 8). I may also be required to provide additional reports or consult with other members of your treatment team as required.
NDIS
Good Egg Psychology can provide services to both plan-managed and self-managed NDIS participants to support you to meet your NDIS goals.
You will be asked to share a copy of your NDIS goals and psychology budget with us to aid treatment planning. Plan-managed clients will be asked to sign a service agreement with Good Egg Psychology.
Good Egg Psychology is not able to provide services to agency-managed NDIS participants.
Assessments for Autism and/or ADHD
I provide neurodiversity affirming Autism and/or ADHD exploration, as well as optional documentation to confirm diagnosis. No referral is needed, just contact Good Egg Psychology via phone or email to book an enquiry call or your first appointment.
What to expect from Assessment
A holistic, therapeutic assessment model is utilised to help you explore and understand your neurotype and the interplay with other aspects of your presentation (such as mental health concerns, physical health, trauma, other types of neurodivergence).
Psychological assessment will require active effort on your part, both in and outside of sessions. For example you will need to complete forms, questionnaires and reflect on your experiences. I am there to support your efforts.
You will be asked to complete a background form to gather relevant information prior to the first appointment. The first appointment will involve understanding your goals / hopes for assessment, any concerns you may have, and answer your questions. I will also ask about the information provided in your background form, to aid my understanding. By the end of this, I will be able to offer you some first impressions regarding whether further exploration is likely to be beneficial.
If you decide to proceed, I will then send you some questionnaires to complete before your next appointment. The next 1-2 sessions will involve exploration of your experiences (sensory sensitivities and preferences, cognitive challenges and strengths and social communication preferences).
I will then book a follow up appointment to share the results of your assessments, my understanding of your presentation, and how this maps onto any formal diagnoses. You can book 1-2 further sessions to debrief and ask more questions if you require or would benefit from this.
Clinical Supervision
I have a special interest in neurodiversity-affirming supervision. This is suitable for neurodivergent supervisees seeking a supportive supervision space and neurotypical supervisees wishing to upskill in neurodivergent affirming therapy.
Please contact me to book an enquiry call to see if we are a good fit. Following this, you will be asked to provide some background information about yourself and your supervision goals, and sign a supervision agreement.
